Une médaille AGU "Young Scientist Award" pour Florent Brenguier

Congratulations to Florent Brenguier, winner of the 2009 Keiiti Aki Young Scientist Award. This AGU award was established by our section in 2008 and is given every year to an outstanding young seismologist who is within 3 years of receiving his/her Ph.D. An “ad hoc” committee consisting of the Section Officers and 3-4 other seismologists selected Dr. Brenguier from a very strong slate of nominations. Florent graduated from Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble, France) and is now at the Observatoire Volcanologique du Piton de la Fournaise as faculty of the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (France). He has performed innovative studies of ambient seismic noise to monitor temporal variations of the Earth’s crust associated with, for instance, volcanic and seismic activity. The award will be conferred just before the Gutenberg lecture (see below) (5 PM, Tue 15 December, Room 104, Moscone South).
